State of the County Breakfast

This annual breakfast offers attendees the opportunity to connect with Calvert County leaders and pose their questions directly to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) and Sheriff Cox.

The BOCC will provide updates on current achievements, concerns and their goals moving forward in 2025.

If you are unable to attend and you have a question for the panel, please send your question by noon on September 24th to Kathy Maney at kathy@calvertchamber.org.

You must register to attend. Deadline to register is noon on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

Tri County Memory Walk

The Tri-County Memory Walk is an event to honor and remember those we have loved and lost through addiction. Here, there is no stigma, judgment, or guilt. Instead, the focus is on healing, hope, and recovery.

This event includes:

·         A keynote speaker who shares their personal experience, strength, and hope

·         Planting sunflower seeds harvested from the flowers of last year’s Tri-County Memory Walk

·         A one-mile walk on a path through serene farmland lined with photos of lost loved ones

·         Professional and peer support

·         Recovery resources for family and friends affected by someone else’s addiction

·         Recovery resources for those affected by their own addiction

"THIS IS ME" Color Blast Run/Walk

The “THIS IS ME” Color Blast Run/Walk is a family friendly event aimed at raising awareness and supporting our youth.  .  It’s a day of music, games, information sharing, and lots and lots of color as participants run/walk the beautiful grounds of The Calverton School.  Join us for a day of fun and support our kids.  The NOVEL Bakery will be on site selling their amazing baked goods, coffees and teas. A portion of the funds raised from this event will be donated to the nine local youth groups/clubs/sport teams.  This year’s Blast Station hosts are:  Calvert High School Cheerleading; Calvert High School Girl’s Soccer; Cheer Extreme – Teal Boosters; East John Youth Center;  Emmanuel Church Students; Huntingtown High School Girls’ Basketball; Northern Middle School PTO; Twin Beach Players;  and The Calverton School – SGA

The race pre-registration fee is $20 (3 and younger are free) and participants receive a t-shirt and race swag bag.  Online registration is required.  Day of registration will be available for $25 per person.

Rhythm of Life: Drum Circle Support Group

Rhythm of Life: Drum Circle Support Group is a free group for kids and teens ages 6 to 18. They can connect with one another through creative expression and the healing power of drumming. Drumming has been shown to produce relief from symptoms that accompany grief and loss, improve physical wellbeing, help to process and regulate emotions, and it’s fun! The group will meet from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, July 16, Aug. 20 and Sept. 17 at the Burnett Center for Hope & Healing, 4559 Sixes Road, Prince Frederick, Maryland. Registration is required for all programs and can be completed by calling 888-501-7077 or emailing griefinfo@chesapeakelifecenter.org. Burnett Center for Hope & Healing Drop-In Grief Support Group

This monthly group will meet at the Burnett Center for Hope & Healing, 4559 Sixes Road, Prince Frederick, Maryland, from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, July 16, Aug. 20 and Sept. 17. Chesapeake Life Center’s Drop-In Grief Support Groups are open to anyone grieving. Groups offer participants an opportunity to share their feelings and obtain support from others who are experiencing loss. There is no fee and no registration is required.
